J.D. Brink

If taking a college fencing class, eating from the trash can, and smelling like an animal were qualifications for becoming a sword-swinging barbarian, J. D. Brink might be Conan’s protégé. But since that career path seemed less than promising, he has instead been a sailor, spy, nurse, and officer in the U.S. Navy, as well as a gravedigger, insurance adjuster, and school teacher in civilian life. Today (spring, 2016) he and his family are stationed in Japan, where he’s providing a bad example for all Americans. In his writing, as in life, Mr. Brink enjoys dabbling in multiple genres.

JD Brink-InvasionThe Story: Invasion

Nuclear colossus Adam Smasher is the most powerful man on the planet. His physical limits have yet to be tested, though his fragile ego may be his Achilles heel.

Ballista was once a gladiator of the killing circuits, a slave to distant alien arenas. Now she fights for more worthy causes as a “superhero” on Earth. But killing still comes too easily for her.

Though born of the Congo jungles, the genius Symian feels even more out of place than his alien companion. It is difficult to defend humanity when they resent you for not being human.

Together they are the future’s greatest (if somewhat dysfunctional) superhero team.

When the trio assists in launching a new United Nations space station, they accidentally put themselves on the front line of an interstellar war. The heroes of Apex are now Earth’s best chance for survival, if they don’t kill each other first.

The future of the Identity Crisis Universe hangs in the balance as J. D. Brink brings another series of mature spandex adventure to grownup fanboys and fangirls everywhere.

Curator’s Comments:

It sounds like rollicking fun. Adam Smasher. A genius Symian from the jungle. A killer gladiator. All teaming up to save the world while bickering amongst themselves. Sounds like a blast to me!
